He sustained an anterior cruciate ligament [ACL] injury to his left knee at the 2019 World Championships in Basel, Switzerland. He suffered a second ACL injury to his left knee at the 2020 Peru International in Lima and was out of action for six months. He returned to international competition a year later at the postponed 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. In June 2022 he suffered another left knee injury at the Canada International in Ottawa, Ontario. He had surgery on the injury the following month. Reason: He played multiple sports at school, including cricket, but he chose badminton because he preferred an individual sport and swinging the racket had helped him maintain his fitness. “I picked up the racket because it exercises every part of your body.
