HDFC Debit Card EMI Eligibility

You can check whether your HDFC Debit Card is eligible for EMI on Flipkart using any of these methods:

  1. 1From your registered mobile number, SMS “DCEMI” to 57575 (Flipkart’s own eligibility-check number; standard SMS charges apply). If eligible, you’ll get a reply confirming you can avail EMI on your HDFC Debit Card for Flipkart shopping, subject to T&C.
  2. 2Alternatively, check directly with HDFC Bank: SMS “DCEMI” followed by the last 4 digits of your card to 56767, or give a missed call to 9643222222.
  3. 3If you don’t receive a confirmation, try adding an eligible item to your Flipkart cart and proceeding to checkout — the EMI option will only appear there if your card qualifies for that transaction.
  4. 4Make sure the mobile number registered with HDFC Bank matches the one linked to your Flipkart account.

HDFC Debit Card EMI Interest Rates & Fees

Flipkart runs two flavours of Debit Card EMI with HDFC:

✓ No Cost EMIAvailable on select products and tenures (commonly 3, 6, or 9 months). You pay 0% interest; the discount that would otherwise apply is adjusted against the interest, so you effectively pay the sticker price in installments.
Standard Debit Card EMIAvailable more broadly, but carries interest of roughly 16–20% p.a. on a reducing balance, plus a processing fee of up to ₹299 + GST charged by HDFC Bank.

💡 Both the exact interest rate and fee depend on the product, tenure, and any live offer at the time of purchase — always check the EMI breakup Flipkart shows you at checkout before confirming.

How to Apply for HDFC Debit Card EMI on Flipkart (Website)

  1. 1Add the eligible product to your cart — only one EMI-eligible item per order is allowed.
  2. 2Proceed to checkout and go to the Payment section.
  3. 3Select EMI (Easy Installments), then choose Pre-Approved / Debit Card EMI.
  4. 4Pick HDFC Bank and select your preferred tenure (3, 6, 9, or 12 months).
  5. 5Enter your debit card details and proceed.
  6. 6Authenticate with the OTP sent to your registered mobile number to complete the payment.

Using the Flipkart App

  1. 1At payment, choose Debit Card, then select No Cost EMI if it’s shown for your item (otherwise pick standard EMI).
  2. 2Choose your tenure — shorter tenures (3–9 months) are more likely to be interest-free under No Cost EMI.
  3. 3Enter your card details and OTP. Your card will typically be charged the full amount upfront and credited back as EMI is set up, or debited in installments directly — the app will confirm which applies to your order.
  4. 4Your first EMI is billed on your next HDFC statement cycle; you’ll get an SMS confirming the amount and debit date before it’s charged.

Important Notes

  • Valid on one eligible item per cart/order.
  • Minimum transaction is around ₹10,000; your maximum limit is set by HDFC and shown at checkout.
  • Tenures available: 3, 6, 9, or 12 months.
  • No down payment or Flipkart-side processing fee; HDFC may charge its own EMI conversion fee (up to ₹299 + GST).
  • Flipkart is not responsible for interest charged by the bank and cannot refund it on cancellation, return, or pre-closure. If you cancel an EMI order, you may not be able to use the facility again for up to 90 days.

FAQ

Is a minimum balance required in my HDFC Bank account?

No, HDFC doesn’t require a minimum balance to avail Debit Card EMI.

Is the total cart value blocked in my account after choosing EMI?

No, the full amount isn’t blocked. Just make sure you have enough balance in your account each month to cover the EMI debit.

When will the EMI be auto-debited from my account?

If your transaction is completed on or before the 20th of a month, your first EMI is typically charged on the 5th of the following month. If completed after the 20th, the first EMI is usually charged on the 5th of the month after that. For example, a purchase made on the 21st would see its first EMI debited on the 5th two months later.

  • Hey, I'm totally confused, when I spoke to the flipkart support, they said that the total amount will be blocked for 7 days and will be transferred back again to the account after which the first Emi will be deducted. I am not able to find a solution to this. Should I be taking a word from this website or flipkart. Infact the flipkart personnel didn't exactly know what this offer was initially.
